A gang who said they were a secret group guided by ancestral spirits and painted the number 666 on a red wall in their house have been arrested.
They are accused of raping a 17-year-old girl as part of a satanic ritual.
The girl from Germiston, Ekurhuleni, said she was walking home from school on Thursday when a man bumped into her and threw muthi on her.
"I became dizzy and then everything went dark. The man dragged me to his place, where there were four other men. The walls of the room they took me to were covered in red cloth and there were signs of Satanism everywhere. The men were dressed in red garments and black hats to symbolise the devil," said the girl.
She said the men started singing in a foreign language and threw muthi at her. The girl told the SunTeam one of the men said she had officially joined their secret group and she needed to sleep with one of them because it was an order from the ancestors.
She was allegedly raped by the leader while the others surrounded the bed singing.
The grade 11 pupil said she escaped when the men left to go to the shop and left the door unlocked. She ran home and reported the incident to her father, who called the police.
The girl's father said he reported the case to the cops and they went to the two-roomed house in the Germiston CBD where the men lived.
"We found the leader, but he resisted arrest and managed to escape," said the father.
On Saturday two of the suspects went back to the house and the cops pounced on them while they were sleeping.
Their leader was later arrested after cops tricked him into thinking they were customers.
