Harrods accidentally sold £1,000 bags for less than £5 due to a pricing error. The Italian leather bags were all listed for under £10 – some were as little as £2.
During the glitch – which saw some prices have their decimal point put in the wrong spot – the brand Marylebone tote was listed for £8.08.
But anyone who managed to buy one will be left disappointed – because Harrods have said they will not honour the mistake.
A Harrods spokesperson said: 'Due to a supplier computer pricing error, a number of Aspinal products were displayed for a short period of time on our website at the incorrect price.
'We took immediate action to rectify this pricing error and the issue was resolved quickly.
'Harrods has personally contacted any affected customers to inform them of the error and that orders would not be dispatched. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.'
Speaking to the Telegraph, solicitor Andrew Leakey said that if customers received email confirmation, they could technically argue that it is a contract.
Therefore, the department store may have to honour it.
However, as the mistake was arguably obvious it's unlikely a customer would win.
